Lamar County Courthouse, Part XII
For those of you just joining us or for those of you who do not want to wade back through my blog for the previous parts of this renovation series, I have provided links for your lazy tails here: Part I, Part II, Part III, Part IV, Part V (The Big Momma- where I photograph the inside for the first time) Part VI, Part VII, Part VIII, Part IX , Part X, and Part XI. As always, you can click on any of the photos in this blog to enlarge them.
As I drove by the courthouse this morning, I let out another squee when I saw they had put together the dome for the the clocktower. It was assembled on the ground with the crane beside it to lift it to the roof and when I pulled over to get a few photos, my usual photo-taking spot was full. I’m usually alone on the side of the road in front of the courthouse but not this morning. I looked around and all of the other spectators were grinning at me through the glass of their car windows because we were all there for the same reason. The clocktower.
This was this morning:
They were also working on bricking the other side of the new addition and bricking the front of the other new addition.
Since I came back home this evening while there was still just a bit of daylight left in the sky, I drove by the courthouse again to see the progress. The dome is in place and the crane has been removed. They’ve came pretty far with the brick on the side too.
