Spring is coming... So are the turtles

Last spring was crazy with turtles everywhere. Every morning on the way to work, I would see at least one, most of the time, more. I love finding and seeing turtles. If it's a big one on the road, I stop and help it. It seems like the bigger they are, the smaller the chance of getting across the road alive.

So, the first turtle sighting was yesterday on Carterville in Petal. BIG TURTLE. Don't know what kind but when I picked it up, it hissed at me! I gave it a stern talking to about gratitude as I walked it across to the pond it was headed for. The nerve. Hissing at me!

Anyway, this morning on our driveway/pond dam, there was a baby snapping turtle. Picked it up to take a pic, which is the photo above and put it back down so it could move along. When I got in the car, I smelled something stinky. Smelled my hands...turtle pee. Turtles are not appreciative animals.
